Obituary For Adela Peguero
Adela Peguero, 98, of Laredo, Texas passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, in the company of family.
Adela was born on October 16, 1924, the youngest daughter to late parents Thomasa Resendez and Nicolas Balleza. She was also preceded in death by her six siblings and two grandchildren, Robert David Peguero and Gerardo Raul Peguero, both of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
As a child, Adela loved tending to the animals on her family’s ranch. Growing up, helping her mother, she learned to prepare many of the dishes that would become the family’s favorites. Later, she worked many years at the now defunct Farmer’s Grill. There she honed her culinary skills. Many of her recipes have passed on from generation to generation. She instilled traditions her family will lovingly carry on. She was happiest when all gathered together for celebrations especially birthdays.
Adela was a hard-working, dedicated mother to Maria J. Rodriguez, Porfiria (Armando+) Gutierrez, both of Laredo, and Roberto (Yvette) Peguero of Madison, Wisconsin.
Adela had eleven grandchildren; Jessica (Bob) Hernandez of Carrollton, TX, Monica (Dan) Pauken of Colleyville, TX; Patricia (Rueben) Martinez and Diana (Esteban) Sanchez, both of Laredo; Armando (Terri) Gutierrez, Jr. and Leonardo (Linda) Gutierrez, both of Weatherford, TX; Christopher (Anthony) Peguero of Fitchburg, WI, Adriana (Jonathan) Clinkscale of Madison, WI, and Ricardo (Melissa) Peguero of Green Bay, WI. Adela also had twenty great-grandchildren who have treasured memories of her and four great-great-grandchildren.
Adela, herself, selected the following family members to serve as pallbearers: Bob Hernandez, Dan Pauken, Rueben Martinez, Esteban Sanchez, Armando Gutierez Jr., Leonardo Gutierrez, Christopher Peguero, and Ricardo Peguero.
A Vigil for the Deceased will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2023. A Holy Rosary will be offered at 7:00 pm led by Deacon Gerardo Morales.
The funeral procession will depart at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 21, 2023, to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where Adela was a lifelong member. A Mass of Christian Burial will be officiated at 11:00 am by Rev. Fr. Francisco León, O.S.A.
Rite of Committal will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of the funeral service professionals of Nieto Funerals & Cremations, 3502 Hwy 83, Laredo, TX 78046.
