Obituary For Alejandro "Alex" Suarez,
A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Alejandro “Alex” Suarez, Sr., 77, of Laredo, TX was returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle that ultimately gave him peace. Alex was born on November 12, 1937 to the late Guadalupe Suarez and Guadalupe Reyna Suarez at Rancho Colorado, Tx. Alex was blessed with a large and loving family having had 17 siblings. Alex helped raise his four children with patience, discipline and humility. He taught them to read, write and solve equations, and often took them on long family trips to visit the large family. He earned his GED from Laredo Junior College doing “Night Owl Classes” and was the owner of Suarez Lumber Yard in Laredo, Texas in the barrio of Santo Nino, an area that continues to serve as a symbol of community identity and cohesiveness. Alex was a social, active man who was always working various jobs to keep busy for the majority of his life. He enjoyed music, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Alex is preceded in death by his son: Andy Suarez, mother of his children: Noemi G. Suarez, paternal grandparents: Guadalupe (Guadalupe Reyna) Suarez and paternal grandparents: Manuel (Rosa) Melendez. He is survived by his wife: Lilia Guerrero, children: Alejandro (Beatriz Granada) Suarez, Jr., Armando (Gloria G.) Suarez, Araceli (Carlos) Arredondo, 14 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 17 brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm officiated by Pastor Guadalupe Puente, Jr. from Templo El Buen Pastor Assembly of God Church, to which donations can be made in lieu of flowers at 302 W. San Carlos St. Laredo, Tx. 78041. Cremation services will be held at a later date. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040.
