Mr. Carmen “Mele” Valverde, Jr., 70, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014. Mr. Valverde was preceded in death by his father, Carmen Valverde, Sr., his mother, Ignacia Valverde, his brothers, Guadalupe Valverde and Jesus Valverde and his sisters, Catalina Garcia and Cayetana Jalomo. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years of marriage Elma Rosa Valverde; children, Saul (Idalia) Valverde, Samuel Valverde, Antonio (Erika) Alvarez and Olga Anel (Alex) Araiza; grandchildren, Amy and Ayleen Valverde and Janell Araiza; brother, Eduardo Valverde; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Special thanks to Laredo Medical Center ICU 2nd Floor. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a visitation will begin at 8:00 am. A chapel service will be officiated at 10:30 am by Deacon Gerardo Morales. Interment will follow immediately at the City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Saul Valverde, Samuel Valverde, Antonio Alvarez and Alex Araiza.
