Obituary For Consuelo G. "Chelo" Herrera

Consuelo G. "Chelo" Herrera, 92, entered into eternal rest, Tuesday, December 18, 2018. Chelo was a character. She made everyone laugh and people remember her as friendly, colorful, and sassy. She loved to play bingo, loteria, and color. She enjoyed her family immensely. People remember her as being very social and a great conversationalist. She was the entertainment wherever she went.

Mrs. Herrera is preceded in death by her parents; Zeferino De La Garza and Josefa G. De La Garza, siblings; Jose De La Garza, Maria Luisa Benavidez, daughters; Sara Luisa Herrera and Yolanda Guerra, grandchildren; Edgardo Herrera and Sergio Herrera and great-grandchild; Ashley Marie Herrera.

She is survived by her children; Domingo (Bertha) Herrera, Jr., Maria Antonieta Gomez, San Juana (Javier) Vera, Hector Jesus (Josefina) Herrera, Olivia (Fernando) Gonzalez, Claudia Herrera, and Javier Herrera; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends that will greatly miss her.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 22, 2018, from the funeral home to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Funeral mass will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Felix Gomez, Jr., Jesse Gonzalez, Gilbert Gonzalez, Hector Herrera, Jr., Joseph Trevino, Javier Vera, Jr., Javier Herrera and Joelee Herrera.

Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.
