Obituary For Deyla Guadiana

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Deyla Guadiana, who departed this life on September 14, 2025, at the age of 79. She lived a remarkable life defined by courage, resilience, and impact, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire her family, friends, and community.

Born in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Mexico, Deyla immigrated to the United States in the late 1960s in search of new opportunities. She built her life in Fort Worth, Texas, where through determination and vision she became a successful entrepreneur. She co-founded J&D, Inc., a thriving furniture and interior decorating business, with her lifelong companion and former husband, Juan Antonio Castro-Faz, and later expanded her ventures into property investments.

Deyla was a passionate traveler who delighted in discovering new places and cultures. She also loved fashion and interior design, always bringing beauty and style into everything she touched. Additionally, she found joy in tending to her plants, which filled her surroundings with life and beauty.

In her retirement, Deyla made Laredo, Texas, her home, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Zavdy. Although Deyla’s mobility became more limited in later years, Zavdy’s care and dedication allowed her to continue embracing her love of travel. Together they fulfilled her lifelong dream of journeying the entire Route 66 and also traveled to Oaxaca, Irapuato, Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Cancún—trips that brought her immense joy and lasting memories.

Above all her accomplishments, Deyla will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family. Her strength and determination opened doors for future generations.

She is survived by her children, Juan A. Castro Jr., Zavdy Castro-Guadiana, and Eliud Castro; her grandchildren, Rex C. Martinez, Ariela Martinez, Victoria Dubón, Forrest E. Castro, Alejandro P. Martinez, Colby Castro, Connor R. Castro, and Sophia Castro; and her great-grandchildren, Cristian A. Dubón, Stella A. Martinez, Talia A. Martinez, Luka A. Dubón and Mina A. Dubón. She is also survived by her siblings: Noe Guadiana, Olga Garcia, Raquel Guadiana, and Thelma Acevedo.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion and former husband, Juan Antonio Castro-Faz; her brother, Gilberto Guadiana; and her parents.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Nieto Funerals & Cremations in Laredo, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of her extraordinary journey, the joy she shared, and the legacy she leaves behind.

Flowers: The family requests that flowers or plants be purchased from Carmin’s Flower Shop (https://carminsflowershop.com), in appreciation of the kindness shown by the owners, who sent her flowers with love on occasion.
