Obituary For Edmundo Chavez

Edmundo Chavez, 73, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. Mundo, as he was best known by his friends and family was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He graduated from Martin High School in 1959 and later enlisted with the US Army in 1961. Mundo married his beloved wife in 1965 with whom he relocated to Illinois. In 1973 he moved back to Laredo with his family where he lived the rest of his life. His lifetime occupation was a welder working as self employed and with gas and oilfield companies. Mundo was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed dedicating his time and love to his family. Mundo was preceded in death by his parents Erasto and Consuelo Chavez, his brothers Erasto Chaves, Jr. and Hector Chavez and his grandson Ervey Erasto Chavez, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years of marriage, Esperanza Chavez; two sons, Edmundo Chavez, Jr. of Odessa, TX and Ervey E. Chavez of Laredo, TX.; two daughters, Elsa (Nery) Cisneros of South Elgin, IL and Eliamar Chavez of Oak Park, IL; brothers, Javier Chavez of Scottsdale, AZ and David Chavez of Bayonne, NJ; sisters, Gloria (Eulalio) Valdez of Palatine, IL, Blinzia (Ricardo) Lancon of Corsicana, TX and Guadalupe I. Quintana of Beaumont, TX; 8 grandchildren, Nadine Chavez, Joseleen Chavez, Giselle Chavez, Marc Anthony Cisneros, Riley Cisneros, Jackie F. Chavez, Abbygail E. Chavez and Edgardo E. Chavez; 2 great grandchildren, Javier Llandel Davila and Brandon Davila. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2012 at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service officiated at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory. A chapel service will commence at 9 am. Procession will follow to the City Cemetery where Mr. Chavez will be honored for his service to our country by the American Legion Post 59 and a flag detail provided by US Army out of San Antonio, TX. Pallbearers will be: Edmundo Chavez, Jr., Ervey E. Chavez, Nery Cisneros, Marc Anthony Cisneros, Javier Chavez, David Chavez, Gilbert Martinez and Ricardo Lancon. Honoring his wishes, Mr. Chavez will be cremated.
