Encarnacion "John" Martinez Chon, 57, entered into eternal rest, Saturday, September 10, 2016. Mr. Martinez worked for the Laredo Independent School District for 25 years. He worked as a custodian at Nixon High School and later transferred to Cigarroa High School as head custodian until his retirement. All the teachers and faculty at LISD will dearly miss him. He is preceded in death by his father Ramon Perez Martinez. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Sotera Martinez; children, Ramon (Melissa) Martinez, Elaine (James) DeLlanes, Joanna (Ricardo) Martinez, Laura (Joshua) Dixon; 5 grandchildren; mother, Maria Elodia Martinez, siblings; Raymond (Elsa) Martinez, Rose Meza, Francisco Martinez, Ricardo Martinez, David Martinez, Noelia (Luis) Tecalco, Sylvia (Amador) Fernandez, Elizabeth (Jorge) Guardiola; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Mr. Martinez will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 15, 2016 from the funeral home to Santo Nino Mission Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Pallbearers will be: Ramon Martinez, James DeLlanes, Ricardo Cuellar, Francisco Martinez, David Martinez, Raymond Martinez, Jesus Barron, Alexander Meza. Cremation service will follow at a later date.
