Israel Gutierrez, Jr., 60, has departed this life to be with our Lord on Monday, October 15, 2007. A beloved son, brother and friend for many, he left behind only beautiful memories. He graduated from Martin High School in 1965 and shortly enlisted in the Navy in 1966 during the Vietnam Era. His orders called him to active duty on the USS AMPHION in Norfolk Virginia. It was then that he traveled to Scotland, England and many other overseas countries. Israel had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. It was a pleasure to be around him, with his joyful and pleasant attitude. He will be dearly missed. Israel was preceded in death by his father, Israel Gutierrez in December of 1995. He is survived by his mother: Gloria Chapa, brother: Jaime Gutierrez, sisters: Elsa (Bob) Gobar, Diana (Oscar) Gomez and Laura (Santos) Costilla all of Laredo. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home from 8:00am to 12:00pm and a chapel service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow to the City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home, 802 Coke St.
