Obituary For Josefina Garcia Cavazos
Josefina Garcia Cavazos, 88, was called by the Lord to eternal rest on Friday, February 12, 2010. As a housewife, her vocation was to serve as a witness of God’s love to her family, her neighbors and friends. She fulfilled her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend with great joy, overcoming a great many health-related challenges throughout her life. Mrs. Cavazos was born in Lampazos, Nuevo Leon and was raised in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, although the Garcia family can trace its roots to early Laredo prior to Texas independence. She was preceded in death by her parents: Celso and Alberta Garcia; her brother and sisters: Gregorio Garcia, Maria de la Luz Martinez and Bertha Garcia; her spouse: Santiago C. Cavazos; and her son: Santiago Cavazos, Jr. She is survived by her children: Sergio H. (Brenda) Cavazos of Arp, Texas; Roberto C. (Sylvia) Cavazos of Laredo; Anna L. Cavazos (Vittorio) Ramirez; and Rebecca Cavazos (Roberto) Sepulveda of Laredo; grandchildren: Jeffrey Scott Cavazos, Roberto Cavazos, Jason Lee Cavazos, Monika Elizabeth Cavazos, Roberto Santiago Sepulveda, Marcos Alejandro Sepulveda, Ricardo Daniel Sepulveda, Vittorio Ramirez, Anna Lee Ramirez Lovelace, and Vanessa Alejandra Ramirez; nieces and nephews: Christina Martinez (Bryan) DeFacio, Jose (Dolores) Martinez, Eduardo (Cordy) Martinez, Ricardo Martinez, Estela Garcia, Leticia Garcia Ramirez, Diana Garcia Hale, Marta Garcia, Gregorio Garcia, and Hector Garcia; seven great-grandchildren; grandnieces and grandnephews; and her cousin Isidra Garcia Jones of San Antonio. The family will be gathering at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, February 14, 2010, from 4pm to 9pm; a rosary will be recited at 7pm. Friends are invited to express their condoloences. Funeral Services will on Monday, February 15, 2010, from Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am. Interment will follow immidiatley at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family is truly grateful for the care she received from the nurses and physicians at Doctor’s Hospital over the last six weeks; for the caring service of her primary physician Milton Haber, her caregiver Margarita Martinez and the nurses of Santa Rita Home Health who she loved as if they were her own family. Funeral service arrangments are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040, 956-723-3723.
