Mrs. Lucy Chapa entered into eternal rest on September10, 2011 surrounded by her adoring family. She was born on October 28, 1921, in Fullerton, Louisiana. Nicknamed "Mamie", her home was never empty because her family gravitated around her. Her indefatigable spirit lives on in her daughters; MariaElena (Juan T. III) Gonzalez, Mariagloria (Richard J.) Gonzalez, Maria Elizabeth (Jorge) Garcia; her beloved niece, Berta (George) Quesada; nephews, Rafael (Norma) Garcia, Mario (Queta) Garcia and numerous other relatives. Mamie was particularly proud of the accomplishments of her grandchildren and always urged them to strive higher and never settle for less. Her memory will be closely cherished in the hearts of her grandchildren; Juan T. Gonzalez, IV, Bino Zeferino (Samantha Richter) Gonzalez, Nina Gabriella Gonzalez, (Darrin C. Lillian), Glenn C. Ruiz, Jr., Melissa Elizabeth Botello, Holly Gail Gonzalez, Margaret Elizabeth (Rodolfo Munoz) Botello, Marcus Anthony Botello, Reynaldo Sergio Gonzalez, Sherry Gianina Gonzalez, Jorge Garcia, Jr., Riley Gonzalez; and great-grandsons, Zeferino Bino Gonzalez and his expected Baby Brother. Mamie was very close to her grandnephews, Mario (Nora) Montemayor and Raul (Anissa) Quesada. Mamie was strict and strong-willed but she was fun and never boring. She loved the Atlanta Braves, cooking and her talent with a needle was without equal. Mamie will live forever in our hearts. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory from 5pm to 9pm with a rosary recited in the evening. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory to Saint Patrick Church. Holy Mass will commence at 8:30am. Interment will follow to the City Cemetery.
