Manuel Benavides, 100 years old, passed away to be with his Lord and savior on Monday, July 20, 2015, at a local hospital.

Mr. Benavides is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 78 years of marriage, Hortencia G. Benavides; his parents, Manuel and Josefa Galvan Benavides; brother, Cenovio (Esther) Benavides; sisters, Toribia (Raul) Rendon, Pilar (Narciso) Gonzalez, Josefa (Humberto) San Miguel and Leonor Benavides.

He is survived by his daughter, Norma Yolanda (Manuel) Segovia; grandson, Orlando (Annette) Segovia; granddaughter, Arlene H. Segovia; great-grandchildren; great great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. The family will like to extend their gratitude to Doctor's Hospital & Staff, Laredo Medical Center & Staff and Laredo Specialty Hospital & Staff for their kind attention and service to their beloved father.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2015, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. The family requests that everyone meets at Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia, 4519 E. Del Mar Blvd. starting at 9:00 am. A church service will begin at 10:00 am officiated by Rev. Gilberto Velez. Interment will follow immediately in the City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Orlando Segovia, Eduardo Gonzalez, Joel Garcia, Eliseo Losoya, David Gonzalez, Caleb Garcia, Candelario Gonzalez, Jr. and Miguel San Miguel.
