Obituary For Marcie Jo Garcia
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marcie Jo Garcia, age 48, who was called to her eternal rest on December 31, 2025. Surrounded by her loving family, Marcie departed peacefully at the University Hospital of San Antonio, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, strength, and unwavering devotion to her loved ones.
Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, Marcie was a spirited individual known for her bold character and outspoken nature. She was affectionately known as "La Guera" by her friends, "Chacha" by her family, and “Mama” by her children and grandchildren. Marcie, a vibrant spirit, may have left this world, but the warmth of her smile and the joy she spread will
forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Marcie was a beacon of light; a woman whose joyous adventures transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary. She dedicated her life to her family, embodying the role of a nurturing mother and grandmother with grace and compassion. Her zest for life was infectious; she taught us all to embrace every moment fully, encouraging us to live bravely, take risks and find laughter even in life's most challenging situations. With her guiding mantra, "Un día a la vez" (One day at a time), she inspired countless souls to cherish the present and to seek joy in every experience.
The active pallbearers will be: Dennis D. Garcia Sr., Juan F. “Johnny” Flores Jr., Allan Dave Flores, Jose Luis Santos “Cano”, Frankie Hinojosa Jr., Jay Hinojosa, Jesus S. Olmos, and James Cazares Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dolores M. Garcia, Marcie Jo Olmos, Katherine Flores, Marlene Flores, Denise “DeeDee” Garcia, Darcie D. Gonzalez, Denise Dale Hinojosa, Kaitlynn Dee Hinojosa, Jacqueline Yvette Santos, Brigitte Garcia, Jennifer Zepeda, Melissa Mitchell, Dora Diaz, and Jeanette Garcia.
Also acting as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dennis D. Garcia Jr., Desi D. Garcia, Devin D. Garcia, Perry Gene Garcia, Barney Dean Garcia, “Joey” Santos Jr., Frank Hinojosa, Jesus Garza Jr., Jesus Salazar and Joel Garcia.
Marcie is preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene Michelle Flores; brother, Allan “Bo” Garcia; paternal grandparents, Oscar D. “King” Garcia and Alicia O. Garcia; maternal grandparents, George W. Mitchell Sr. and Maria G. Mitchell; uncles, Oscar D. Garcia Jr., Nicholas G. Mitchell, George W. Mitchell Jr., Jerry Mitchell and Richie Medina; aunts, Gilda Y. Garcia and Alicia “Dolly” Garcia Valadez; cousin, Tommy Diaz, Jr.
Her memory will be dearly cherished by her children, Marcie Jo (Jesus) Olmos, Katherine Flores, Marlene (James Jr.) Cazares, Juan F. “Johnny” (Jennifer) Flores, Jr., Allan D. Flores; father, Dennis Dave Garcia, Sr. (Ana); mother, Dolores M. Garcia; siblings, Denise “DeeDee” Garcia (Jesus Garza, Jr.), Dennis D. Garcia, Jr., Darcie D. (Juan) Gonzalez, Desi D. Garcia (Dolores), Devin D. Garcia, and Danny Garcia; grandchildren, Marlowe James Cazares, Haylie Faith Martinez, Juan “Johnny” Flores, III, Jose A. Flores, Mateo Sena, Alina Flores, Elizabeth Salazar, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. While we will deeply miss her presence, we find solace in knowing that she is now in a better place. Marcie was greatly loved, and her memory will be forever cherished. May she rest in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Nieto Funerals & Cremations, 3502 US Hwy 83, Laredo, TX 78046 from 5pm to 9pm. A rosary will be recited at 7pm. Friday, January 9, 2026 the chapel will open at 7am. The funeral procession will depart at 8:30am for a 9am Mass at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
