Maria del Carmen Villarreal

December 31, 1924 - July 30, 2019

Maruca (as she was affectionately known) passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on July 30, 2019. She was born in Laredo, Texas where she lived all her life. She married the love of her life Jose C. Villarreal on April 30, 1951. During their 69 years together they raised two sons and a daughter. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, taking family vacations and spending time with her husband.

Mrs. Villarreal is preceded in death by her parents; Brigido Perez and Eliza Gutierrez, and brother; Brigido Perez, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her husband; Jose C. Villarreal, sons; Jose Manuel (Alma) Villarreal, Gerardo (Lourdes) Villarreal, daughter; Gilda Villarreal, grandchildren; Elizabeth (Johnny Zambrano) Villarreal, David Villarreal, Dolly Marie (Jonathan) Mason, Vanessa Lorraine (Raul) Lozano, Selina Villarreal, Jose Gerardo ( Laura) Villarreal and Gabriel (Wendy) Villarreal; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; sister; Maria Delia ( + Baldomero) Garcia, and aunt; Eva Rodriguez; as well as other family members and friends.

The family would like to thank her caregivers for their support; Monce Rodriguez, Raquel Rodriguez, Micaela Moreno, Elma Vasquez, and Martha Baeza. Also a special thank you to Dr. Octavio Guzman, Nurses on Wheels of Laredo-Hospice Care and Amaro Gutierrez R.N for their excellent service.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 5, 2019 from the funeral home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral mass will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Gerardo Villarreal, Jose Gerardo Villarreal, Gabriel Villarreal, Jose Manuel Villarreal, Raul Lozano, and Jean-Marc Powell.

Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.

    I am so sad to hear that Tia Marcua has passed. She was a beautiful and kind person. My mother Concha loved Tia Maruca very much . They were able to see each other for the last time almost two years ago and you could see how much they loved each other. Tia may you Rest In Peace. My condolences to Tio and my cousins. Tia and my mother are united again in heaven. May Jesus love them and wrap his arms around them. Love your cousin Patsy Covarrubias and husband Jean. God Bless you! 🙏
