It is with profound sadness that we announce that our mother, Mrs. Maria del Rosario Collazo unfortunately passed away on August 6th, 2025 in Houston, Texas. Following a lengthy battle with health conditions, Grandma passed away at 80 years young, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lauro Collazo Jr PFC, and children Celestina, Manuel Abraham, Lauro Ill and Aaron Moses Collazo. She is survived by Jose de Jesus Collazo, María del Rosario Barrero, Ruth Susana Collazo, and Zeina Ramos.

To her city, Laredo, Maria was a helper; seen being an active member to her Episcopalian church and to LISD as a former employee and volunteer to MS Ryan. To her children, María was a resilient figure, someone who always carried optimism and hope. To her grandchildren, she was a comforting and nurturing presence in each of their lives. To her great grandchildren, she was a source of endless love and adoration. To all those touched by her, she was a young spirit that spread laughter and smiles.

In her later life, Maria spread joy to her family, telling jokes and recounting stories of the past. Even through difficult times, Maria donned a smile and wanted her loved ones to remember her so. She was a lover of jewelry, fashion, classical music, and traveling.

As our family pays our respects to our mother, we thank our community for the support and prayers during this time. Services are under the direction of Nieto Funeral & Cremations 3502 US Hwy 83, Laredo, Texas 78046.

Memorial Service will be at Christ Church Episcopal on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 5:00 pm and we hope you will join us.
