Maria Emma Berry, 96 years of age, born and raised in Laredo, Texas passed away on January 26, 2018. She was an only child, born October 28, 1921, to her beloved parents Valeriano and Feliz Ramirez. The first two decades of her life were filled with love and devotion to her parents. She was graduated from Martin High School in 1938, and married Oscar V. Berry in 1945 after he returned from combat service in World War II. She was a member of the Greatest Generation (1910-1924), and witnessed the Great Depression and World War II. She was a mother to her seven children, and kept the home fires burning while her husband served in the U.S Army overseas. She loved her God, her family, and her many friends. She was fair, generous, compassionate, and kind. Emma believed that the simple words Thank you and Please would help carry you through life. She believed the Power of those words would remind you to be grateful and humble. Emma Berry was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and grandson Joshua Rodriguez. She is survived by her children: Miguel (Irma) Berry, Emma (Fred) Carrington, Daniel Berry, Valerie (Mike) Amaro, Paula (Larry) Monks, Laura (Fred) Ochoa, and David Berry. Also her grandchildren: Cristi Arthur, Sunny Hahn, Douglas Monks, Steven Monks and Catalina Berry. We thank God for the gift that was our beautiful mother. Her Love will be eternal; she was our safe harbor, our rock, our home. A special "Thank You" to those that were there at the end: David Berry, Miguel and Irma Berry, caregiver Flor Garza, and the kind nurses from Altus Hospice. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a rosary will be recited at 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 from the funeral home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am. Interment will follow immediately in the Laredo City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Miguel Berry, David Berry, Daniel Berry, Frank A. Luna, Miguel Angel Montemayor and Larry Monks.
