Obituary For Maria Escudero Moore

MARIA E. MOORE’S OBITUARY

Maria Eugenia de Mater Escudero Moore passed away peacefully at home with her immediate family at her side in Laredo, Texas on Saturday, May 28, 2021, at the age of 66. Maria was born in Mexico City on November 6, 1954. Maria was preceded in death by her parents: Maria Eugenia Avendaño Orozco and Jorge Mario Escudero Girbau; brother: Jose de Jesus Escudero; and sister: Maritza Guadalupe Escudero.

Maria was a licensed Real Estate Agent in California then moved to Austin, Texas where she received an Associate Degree from Austin Community College in Sociology and Behavioral Sciences and was an active member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. She worked for several years as an instructor and counselor servicing students with disabilities at Austin Community College and as a Supervisor for Pro Med Minor Emergency Centers. When she relocated to Laredo, Maria volunteered for Laredo Family Counseling Services, local nursing homes and provided help to the homeless. She was a passionate, highly motivated, dependable and strong advocate for world environmental issues and needs and protection of all domestic and wild animals. She deeply believed, read and spiritually encouraged Jon Mundy’s books, Courses of Miracles. Maria donated her brain and spinal cord to the UT Health Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s & Neurodegenerative Diseases.

Her affirmation and words she lived by, I am Honest, I am present, I am accountable. My attitude serves me and others. I forgive myself. My life is a statement of service.

Left to cherish Maria’s memory are her sisters, Vicenta Patricia Escudero and Luz Beatriz Escudero; her brother, Jorge Mario Escudero; nephews and nieces, Jorge Ulises McKenzie, Erika Beatriz Ramon, Jose Roberto Escudero and Jorge Rolando Escudero; sister in-law, Cordelia Alicia Escudero and caregivers Goratti Janet Juarez and Maria Pruneda who cared for her dearly for many years. Maria’s wish was for her family to celebrate her life upon her departure after her long and hard battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

At Maria’s request her viewing will be private; however, the family welcomes your support during her last mass scheduled at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church on Friday, June 11, 2021 at 9:00 am.

Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.
