Obituary For Olivia Salinas Diaz

Olivia Salinas Diaz, 86, passed away, Friday, May 16, 2014. Mrs. Diaz was born in Laredo on May 28, 1927 to Leopoldo Salinas Chapa and Guadalupe Ayala Salinas. She had one brother, Roberto Salinas, and three sisters, Rosa Zamarron, Ofelia Salinas, and Antonieta Camacho. All (deceased) were lifelong Laredo residents. On June 28, 1953, she married Francisco Diaz (deceased) and they begat five surviving and loving children: Javier Diaz, Norma “Bibi” (Carlos) Lopez, Laura (Mario) Tenorio, Rosa (Scott) Thompson and Anna (Anthony) Limuel; eight grandchildren: Carlos, Jr. (Alexandra), Mark A. (Melissa) and Frank J. (Cindy) Lopez, Elsa and Sara Tenorio, Amber and Austin Thompson, and Aaron Limuel; and eight nephews and nieces. In 2001, Mrs. Diaz moved to San Antonio with her husband, Francisco, due to family and medical necessity. Francisco passed away in 2002 and Mrs. Diaz remained the bulwark of her family. In San Antonio, she reconnected with a lifelong and surviving friend, Irma Dovalina, and befriended her neighbor, Marta Acosta. Both survivors were abiding companions. She also traveled frequently to visit her son in Washington, D. C. and will be lovingly remembered by many friends in Washington. Mrs. Diaz was a devout Catholic and noble in her life; always placing others interests before her own. For this, she was dearly loved and will be lovingly remembered. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a rosary will be held at 7 pm. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014. Please call the funeral home for funeral service details. Interment will follow immediately in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Anthony Limuel, Scott Thompson, Carlos Lopez, Mario Tenorio, Carlos Lopez, Jr., Mark A. Lopez and Frank J. Lopez. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.

It Broke my Heart when I heard the sad news of her passing. Olivia (nena) was a very Caring and Kind Lady. She was All Class. She had a Loving Heart with a Gentle Soul. I had the Honor and Pleasure of Visiting Her and the Cuatas this past February. She Loved Life and Her Family So Much and was Sharp as a Tack. I will always Cherish all the times I was in her Presence. My Deepest Sympathy and Condolences to the Diaz Family. Dios por Delante...
