Obituary For Refugio Antonio "Kookie" Banda
Refugio A. “Kookie” Banda passed away Monday, January 16, 2012. Mr. Banda proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a graduate of the first class of JW Nixon High School where he was the class treasurer. He continued his life long career as an accountant. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing golf and was a big fanatic of the Dallas Cowboys. A perfect Sunday for him was washing the “RAB1”, cookout carne asada and watching a Cowboy’s game. He also looked forward to spending time with his close friends at “La Yarda”. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Mr. Banda is preceded in death by his parents; Refugio (Carmen) Banda, sister; Josefina Banda and brother; Lauro Banda. He is survived by his wife of 14 years of marriage, Maria Susana Banda, children; Susana (Cesar) Casarez, Alberto (Gracie) Salazar, Andres (Melissa) Salazar, Melissa (Jorge) Salazar, Michael (Melonie) Salazar, Jose Luis Banda, Sandra Banda, Rebeka Banda, Larry Banda, Roland (Cindy) Banda, Valarie Banda, Tanya (Ramiro) Banda-Sigala and 22 grandchildren. Also surviving Mr. Banda, are brothers and sisters; Diana (Rogelio) Deleon, Arturo (Sandra) Banda, Cynthia (Roel) Valls, Gerardo (Alma) Banda, Thelma (Armando) Garza, Pat (Ruben) Briones and Carmen (Victor) Ramirez, various nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2012 at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 from Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory to San Luis Rey Church. Holy mass will commence at 8:30 am. Interment will then follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Friends and family may express condolences to the family online by visiting: www.nietofuneral.com.
