Obituary For Reynaldo L. Alonzo

Reynaldo L. Alonzo born in Lampasos, Nuevo Leon Mexico on June 3, 1923 passed away peacefully on December 27, 2009 in Laredo, Texas surrounded by his family. Mr. Alonzo was preceded in death by parents Manuel and Manuela L. Alonzo, brother, Manuel Alonzo, and sister, Josefina A. Flores. He was a resident of Laredo, Texas most of his life. Mr. Alonzo was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran and received the WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Seabee Insignia, and the Amphibious Insignia. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy he returned and married Herlinda Lopez Alonzo in 1947. He is survived by his four children: James, Elizabeth (Erasmo), John (Griselda), and Nancy (Jeremy). Mr. Alonzo is also survived by his grandchildren; James David, Priscilla Denise (Juan), Amanda Michelle (Joe), Veronica Elizabeth (Efrain), Melinda Samantha (Benny) and Derek Ray Trevino. Also, Crystalle Monique Alonzo-Clifton, Karla Elizabeth, Nancy Enereyda, and Daniela Esther Alonzo. Three great grandsons Robert Xavier and Giovanni Edward Hernandez, and Antonio Efrain Acevedo. Nephews Pedro Javier Flores (Beatriz), Abelardo Heberto Flores (Mari), Juan Manuel Flores and numerous family and friends. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Dr. Francisco Pena who was Mr. Alonzo’s personal physician for many years, and who showed the most respectful and sincere care during these most difficult times. Mr. Alonzo valued Dr. Pena a great deal. A special thanks to Antonio Villarreal and daughter Norma Villarreal Gonzalez for assisting with the funeral arrangements in Lampasos, Nuevo Leon Mexico. Public wake will be Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 4 pm to 9 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 7:30 pm. As were the wishes of Mr. Alonzo, interment will follow Wednesday, December 30, 2009, leaving early to Lampasos, Nuevo Leon Mexico, directly to the San Juan Bautista Church where a mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow immediately after mass at the Panteon Municipal de Lampasos where the family plot is located. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St.
