Obituary For Roberto Garcia Peralta

Roberto Garcia Peralta, Sr., 88, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007. Mr. Peralta proudly served with the United Sates Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946 with rank of corporal. He was an amphibian tractor crewman who saw action in the Pacific Area at Iwo Jima and the Volcano Islands; he was given several medals during his distinguished career. Mr. Peralta was employed with Julian M. Trevino and Casso Guerra for many years until he began to work with Brenan & Company until he retired. He was an avid softball manager for several local teams in the Sunday morning softball league. He enjoyed watching the Houston Astro’s and the Dallas Cowboys. Roberto was loved very much and will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death was his father: Epitacio Peralta, mother: Segunda Garcia, brothers: Ramiro Peralta, Raul Peralta and Rodolfo Peralta, sister-in-law: Rita Peralta. He is survived by his wife of 44 years of marriage: Guadalupe V. Peralta, sons: Alberto (Zulema) Peralta and Roberto (Amy) Peralta, Jr., grandsons: Alberto Garcia, Jr., Roberto Peralta, III and Leopoldo Reed, granddaughters: Graciela Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Ruby Garcia, Clarissa Yvonne Peralta, Margaret Reed, Lisa Avila, Christina Yvette Peralta and Crystal Yasmine Peralta, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other family members. Visitation will be Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home from 4pm to 9pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 1, 2007 from Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home to Saint John Newman Church. Holy Mass will celebrated at 9am. Interment will follow to the City Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 59 and The United States Marine Corps. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home, 802 Coke St.
