Rogelio Macias, 61, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2007. Mr. Macias served in both the US Airforce and the US Navy. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 and also served in the Persian Gulf in 1988 during the IRAN-IRAQ War. Mr. Macias earned, with much pride, several military awards during his military service. He received the Vietnam Service Ribbon/Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon/Medal, National Defense Ribbon/Medal, Airforce-Small Arms Expert Ribbon, Airforce-Good Conduct Ribbon/Medal, Airforce Longevity Ribbon, Navy Meritorious Unit Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Ribbon/Medal, Navy Expedition Service Ribbon/Medal and Navy Defense Service Ribbon. Mr. Macias worked for El Metro Transit System for 13 years. He served as president of Local 110 and 1670 of United Transportation Union for 10 years and also as vice president of the Webb County Central Labor Council. Mr. Macias was a loving father, proud husband and an honorable veteran. Funeral services will be Monday, December 10, 2007 with visitation from 8am to 10:30 am at Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home. Holy Mass will be held at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church at 11am. Interment will follow to the Veterans Section at the City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Rogelio Martinez, Jr., Santino Jose Macias, Juan Salvador Macias. Full Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 59 and the Air Force Flag Detail.
