Rosa Benavidez Gallegos, 90, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 25, 2010. She was preceded n death by her husband, Alfredo Gallegos; her parents, Carlos Benavidez and Rosa Morales Benavidez; her sisters, Maria Del Rosario Benavidez and Esperanza B. Henson and her son, Pablo Gallegos. For several years she worked at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church. She also worked as a teacher's aide at Holy Redeemer's Special Education program, with the City of Laredo Ambulance Service, the Attorney's General Office and with the Senior Citizens Employment Program. Mrs. Gallegos earned an Associates Degree in Accounting from Laredo Junior College. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital and was a member of the Guadalupanas at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Church. She was blessed with the opportunity of meeting His Holiness Pope John Paul, II during her travels to the Holy Land, Egypt and Rome. Mrs. Gallegos is survived by her children; Ricardo (Annie) Gallegos of California, Sister Thelma Irene Gallegos, Alfredo Gallegos, Jr., Rosa Maria, Annamaria A. Gallegos of Dallas, Maria E. Rich, Guillermo David Gallegos of Dallas, Carlos Roberto (Pilar) Gallegos and daughter, Laura A. Cortez of Plano, Texas. Mrs. Gallegos is also survived by her grandsons; Brian Babinski, Rick Gallegos, Carlos Gallegos, Jr., Alex Gallegos and granddaughter; Sylvia Gallegos. Visitation was held Friday, February 26, 2010 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary recited at 5 pm. Funeral services will be today, Saturday, February 27, 2010 from Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory to Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Holy mass will be celebrated at 8:30 am. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
