Obituary For Rosa Elia Estrada Jimenez

Rosa Elia Estrada Jimenez, lovingly known as "Rose," was called home on December 7, 2024, at the age of 75 in Laredo, TX, after a courageous battle with illness. Born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Ramon and Maria de Jesus Estrada, both deceased, Rose spent her life in Laredo, Texas. She graduated proudly from Martin High School in 1970 after attending Central School (La Escuela Amarrilla) and Lamar Junior High.

Rose dedicated 43 years of service to Laredo Community College, where she began as a secretary for the HEAP Program in the 1970s before becoming an Assessment Assistant to Alberto Cardenas and later Lt. Col. Harold Tatum, both of whom preceded her in death. Her positive outlook and cheerful demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

Rose had a deep love for flowers, particularly, roses, orchids and tulips - a passion she inherited from her mother, Maria de Jesus. She also enjoyed traveling to the Texas Hill Country, Texas Coast, and beyond during her retirement. Holidays were especially dear to her heart, with Thanksgiving and Christmas serving as cherished times to bring family together.

She is survived by her siblings Juan Manuel Estrada (+Elena Garza Estrada) Ramon Estrada ( Maria de Los Angeles), and Maria Elena Estrada, numerous nieces and nephews including Cynthia Estrada, Adam Abdul Salam, Victoria Estrada, Atticus Levingson of Laredo; Mary Lou and Richard Perez, Guadalupe and Larry Batey, Linda Yardley, Olga Castillo, Carolina Webber (+ Gary), Kathy and Rodrigo Santos Coy, Juvencio and Chris Estrada of Houston; Ramiro and Carmen Estrada from LaQuinta, California, Alberto Estrada, Raquel E Garcia and many other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband Felipe Jimenez and siblings, Jacinta Estrada, Jose Estrada, Oralia E. Rosas (+Octaviano Rosas), Dolores Estrada, Juvencio Estrada (+Celia C. Estrada), and Ramiro Estrada.

Rose's compassion, love for life, and ability to see the good in everyone will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those she touched.
