My sincerest condolences to the Rivera family for their loss. It's hard for me to put into words how I feel losing a good friend and fellow musician. I have known Ruben for years. We have been singing and playing guitar together for a very long time. I will never forget the good times we had doing what we loved to do. He was a good man, friendly and easy to get along with. In my book, he will always be the best guitar/requinto player to come out of Laredo. I will never forget him. Rest in peace, my friend.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Rivera Family in the loss of Ruben Rivera. I will always remember his great talent in playing romantic songs on the guitar/requinto which brought delight to all who frequented Mon's place on the Friday nights and at many other functions where I heard him play. I too had the opportunity to have had him accompany me with his requinto in a few songs numerous time. Indeed we have lost a great talented musician, but he will make the most serving God. May the Lord be with him and your family to bring you peace and comfort in this time of need.
