Obituary For Santiago Hernandez
On Sunday, September 6, 2015 our beloved father Santiago Hernandez passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Pearsall, Texas in 1925 but raised and lifelong resident of Laredo, Texas. He was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Hernandez was proud to be a veteran and active member of American Legion Post 59. He was a police officer for the Laredo Police Department in the late 50's. His passion was going hunting in Mexico and fishing in Baja California.
Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his wife: Obdulia Centeno Hernandez, daughter; Elsa Garza Hernandez, grandson; Abel Garza, son; Greg, parents; Flugencio (Margarita) Hernandez, mother; Micaela Santos Montalvo, brother-in-law; Rodolfo (Yolanda) Centeno, in laws; Conrado (Maria) Centeno, sister; Ramona Hernandez and nephew; Conrado Centeno.
He is survived by his children; Elva (Manuel Martinez) Hernandez, Santiago Hernandez, Jr., and Jose (Rosie) Dovalina of San Antonio, Texas, son-in-law; Alfredo Garza of Memphis, TN, and sister-in-law; Elvira Calderon. A very special niece which he loved with all his heart like his own daughter Gloria Remy of Pleasanton, Texas, brother; Flugencio (Anita) Hernandez of Boyd, Texas, numerous family in Poteet, Texas, family and friends in Saltillo, Coahuila and Laredo, Texas.
We would like to thank our cousins; Rosie, Linda, Elvira, Bibi and Rodolfo Centeno for all your support, Dr. Norberto Alvarez and staff, Jordan Health Services (Sara, Blanca, Yvonne), Laredo Rehabilitation Center and staff, Laredo nursing and Rehabilitation Center and staff. Thank you Norma Peña, Moy Ortiz and Ismael Montemayor for all your help caring for my dad. Doctors Hospital ICU nurse Fernanda, God Bless you. Thank you to all his brotherhood members at the American Legion, Sandy from Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory and thank you to long life neighborhood friends Mendoza family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2015, with visitation starting at 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory. A holy rosary will be recited at 9:30am by Deacon Gerardo Morales. Interment will then follow immediately in the City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Xavier Hernandez, Jorge Benavides V, Alfredo A. Peña, Arturo Peña, Jiovan Villarreal, Jesse Garcia, Jr., and Jimmy Garcia.
Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.

Sentimos mucho la perdida de su ser querido por eso queremos compartir con ustedes el consuelo que Dios nos da mediante las escrituras. Por ejemplo en Revelación o Apocalipsis 21:4 dice que "Dios limpiara toda lágrima de los ojos y la muerte no será más". Además en Hechos 24:15 dice que "va ha haber una resurrección". Podemos creer en estas promesas porque nuestro amoroso creador y dador de la vida Jehova Dios tiene el poder y el deseo de devolverles la vida a nuestros seres queridos que han muerto.
