Obituary For Saul A. Garza

Saul A. Garza, 80, entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 28, 2016. Mr. Garza was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 13, 1936. He later moved to Laredo, Texas with his family. He attended Christen Junior High and Martin High Schools. He was a graduating member of the Mighty Class of 1955, where he was known as "El Leon". He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman Third Class, stationed at Lackland Air Force Base. He completed his service on March 16, 1956. He was the owner of several business endeavors. He retired from Sears Roebuck and Company after 30+ years, and became independently employed.

He proudly and devotedly, alongside his wife of 46 years, raised a family of five, plus a few "extra" extended family members. All of whom loved and cherished him dearly. Through his passion for art and music, he instilled in his children an appreciation of the fine arts. He eagerly participated in all academic, sports, and extra-curricular school activities with his children. He was an active community member alongside his wife. Mr. Garza was widely known and recognized as "El guero de los ojos azules".

Mr. Garza is preceded in death by his wife; Dora Garza, parents; Adolfo and Josefa Garza; brother, Amaro Garza and extended family member, Edward C. Pulliam.

He is survived by his; children, Saul Alonzo Garza of Laredo, Tx, Sylvia A. (Kevin) Terry of Round Rock, Tx, Sam A. Garza of North Carolina, Sergio A.(Diana) Garza of Mercedes, Tx and Sara Garza of Laredo; grandchildren, Sara Ann Medina, Arielle Garza, Aisha D. Odom, Winston A., Audric M., Keziah A., Benjamin I.Terry, Michael A., Michelle A. and Sergio A. Garza; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Nichole Casarez, Ethan Alexander Medina, Lucy Garza and Canaan Thomas Odom; extended family members, Dulce M. Halm and Clarissa Cortinas; two sisters, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016, from the funeral home to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow immediately in the City Cemetery. Full Military honors will be provided by Laredo Veterans' Honor Guard and Flag Fold Presentation by the United Sates Air Force. Pallbearers will be: Saul Garza, Sergio Garza, Kevin Terry, Winston Terry, Benjamin Terry and Audric M. Terrey, Ryan Odom and Seve Medina.

He fought the brave fight and walked valiantly and gallantly into the light, Sara Garza.

    Saul and Sylvia and the rest of the Garza family, my belated and deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad.
