Vernon Neal Covell, 75, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 28, 2016. Mr. Covell served in the United States Navy. He was an educator for the majority of his years at Santo Niño Elementary. He is preceded in death by his parents; Shelby Vinson Covell and Grace Cass Covell; brother, Johnny Covell and aunt Mabel Cass.

He is survived by his friends that love him very much, Alejandro Arreguin, Alejandro Arreguin, Jr., Alejandra (Orlando) Arreguin, Alejandrina Arreguin, Maria Elena (Pedro) Garcia and Alesandra Arreguin.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 19, 2016, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm officiated by deacon Crispin Soto. An inurnment service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Everyone is encouraged to meet in the veterans section of the Laredo City Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the local American Legion Post 59.
