Obituary For Victor O. Renteria
Officer Victor O. Renteria, 44, passed on to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Officer Victor O. Renteria served the Laredo Police Department for over 10 years joining on July 16, 1984. Throughout his career he served as a patrol officer serving in a city wide capacity in the patrol division. Throughout his employment he was able to earn the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education advanced peace officer certificate as well as numerous awards for his outstanding performance. Officer Renteria also served as a Field Training Officer which duties included overseeing that new police officers receive proper instruction on the street when implementing the vast demands of police duties. Officer Renteria also served in the background investigation unit. He was well liked by his partners sworn and civilian. Officer Renteria submitted his resignation on, May 1, 1995 when he announced that he would be continuing his law enforcement career with the federal government. Victor entered his career in the federal government on April 30, 1995, with the U.S. Border Patrol Agent assigned to the Hebbronville Border Patrol Station, Laredo Sector. On August 3, 1997, he transferred to the U.S. Customs Service as a Customs Inspector assigned to the Port of Laredo. As a Customs Inspector, he received a promotion on August 16, 1998. Then on October 11, 1998, he was reassigned to the Seized Property Program at the Port of Laredo. He received a promotion as a Seized Property Specialist on October 10, 1999. Officer Renteria also served as a certified Firearms Instructor for Customs and Border Patrol Protection at the Port of Laredo. During his tenure with Customs and Border Protection, Victor received numerous special act awards and was also recognized with numerous monetary awards. He will be greatly missed by his fellow law enforcements brothers at the Laredo Police Department and by his Customs and Border Protection Family. Victor was preceded in death by his brother, Osvaldo Renteria on December 8, 1994. He is survived by his wife; Roxanne Renteria, his children; Victor Oziel Renteria, Jr., Laura Lizbeth Renteria, Denise Azeneth Renteria, Osvaldo Gabriel Renteria and Fabiola Renteria, step-children; Samantha Lee Salazar and Sergio Salazar, Jr., 2 grandchildren, parents; Oziel (Sandra) Renteria, brothers and sister; Rev. Jose Luis (Elizabeth) Renteria, Fernando (Margarita) Renteria and Sandra (Gerardo) Sifuentes, maternal-grandmother; Jacinta Cardenas, mother-in-law; Alicia Garza, sisters-in-law; Yvette (Frank) Benavides, Michelle (Erik) Benavides and Jeselle (Hector) Lopez, nieces; Elizabeth and Natalia Victoria, nephews; Joseph and Franky, numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives. Visitation will be Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 4pm to 9pm at Iglesia Cristiana Misericordia, 4519 E. Del Mar Blvd with a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2008 at Igelsia Cristiana Misericordia at 9am. Officiating will be Rev. Jose Luis Renteria and Rev. Gilberto Velez. Interment will follow to the City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nieto-Dickey Funeral Home, 802 Coke St.

I may not remember my father because I was an infant when he went on to a better world but , I can tell from what I've been told by loving family he was a great man and shall be remember for the rest of my life.

Victor O. Renteria My dad was a GREAT,AWESOME,TERRIFIC Father. Even though he may not be here... I will ALWAYS love him! And I know he is in a better place. He will always be in my heart and I will NEVER forget him. I LOVE YOU TONZ DADDY!!! AND I MISS YOU TONZZ!!! I will NEVER EVER forget you.

Victor O. Renteria . He was not only a great worker,friend,brother,husband.... but he was an amazing father... and i will miss him greatly... I hope everyone can see the things he taught me and my siblings because he was a great example of what a father is suppose to be.. he is my heroe..my role model..my loss was heavens gain.. and he is in a much better place now... and although he is not here.. i will ALWAYS have a place for him in my heart.... Love you Dad.. and miss you greatly..
