Obituary For Yolanda A. Chavez

On January 13, 2021, Yolanda A. Chavez, 75, received her wings and was taken by the Lord into his heavenly kingdom.

Our beautiful mother, Yolanda, will be deeply missed by her relatives, friends and many others she reached during her life. Never missing the opportunity to teach and inspire. She always took pride and never shied away from helping and taking care of her loved ones. Always by the side of her loving brothers and sisters until their last breath was taken. Now she will join them eternally.

Yolanda's love was indisputable. She was outgoing, hilarious, and always kept a positive attitude towards life. She would light up any room with her infectious smile. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and mother-in-law. Family was always first in her eyes and kept her going no matter what came her way. She enjoyed making delicious food, her love always as the main ingredient showed her warmth and devotion. Spending time with and spoiling her grand and great-grandchildren became one of her greatest pleasures. Even though she has left us so unexpectedly, she will live on within all of us.

We wish for nothing more than to have you one more day. You were always there for us mom and loved us 'till the end.

Mrs. Chavez is preceded in death by her parents; Manuel and Angelita Almeida Garza, siblings; Arturo Almeida, Miguel Almeida, Salvador Garza, Marcos Vasquez, Jr., Gloria Almeida Palacios, Ernestina Almeida, Maria Dolores Briones and Manuel Almeida, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years of marriage; Francisco Chavez, children; Francisco Chavez, Jr., Martin (Norma E.) Chavez, Pedro Chavez and Angel (Olivia) Chavez; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister; Lydia (Ruben) Banda; as well as other family members and friends that will greatly miss her.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 22, 2021 from the funeral home to San Jose Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:00 am. Cremation services will be held at a later date. Pallbearers will be: Francisco Chavez, Jr., Martin Chavez, Angel Chavez, Nathan Chavez, Ethan Chavez, Fabian Chavez, Francisco Chavez, III., and Adolfo Chavez.

Our mother was always very charitable, she made donations whenever possible. The Chavez Family requests that in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to your choice of a non-profit organization on Yolanda A. Chavez's behalf.

Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Nieto Funeral Home & Crematory, 802 Coke St. Laredo, TX 78040. Condolences can be expressed to the family online at www.nietofuneral.com.

I got to know Mrs. Yolanda briefly, but she left a great imprint in my life of how full of life, caring, loving and understanding of a woman she was. Her smile and great soul radiated the entire room. It was an honor getting to know you as brief as it was. Rest in peace Mrs. Yolanda.
